These Sticks, This Tree

These Sticks, This Tree

I’m super excited. I have joined a faith-based arts community on-line, because I really like mixed-media art and want to learn how to do it. I also have this crazy urge to just create, so this gives me the opportunity to learn and grow. The above picture is the first I’ve done since elementary school I think. It is the first piece I’ve done of a five-week course offered within this online community. Once I was finished, I was inspired to write the poem.

Ok, I know it’s no Picasso, but there is really something exhilarating about creating something yourself and seeing the end product.

Do you like to create? What are your creative outlets?

    1. Ohhhhhh, thank you so much Paris. I’m really so new to the artsy thing, but soooooooo want to learn and grow. I’m having a blast doing it too. The poem is just a simple little thing that I was inspired to do afterwards.
      Thanks again Paris.
      🙂 ❤

  1. WOW! WOW! WOW! Oh, I could go on and on, I LOVE the art,Staci! You don’t have to be Picasso to be good when you’re Staci Lys. ❤
Also, the poem compliments the picture perfectly, of course! I knew, I knew you had it in you. You're an artist, my dear friend, in all aspects. 🙂 ❤
l look forward to more and much more! *no pressure though, take your time!* hehehe ^_^

    1. You touch my heart big time girl. REALLY. I’m so encouraged by you, time after time.
You can be sure there will be a whole lot more to come, my friend.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words and love.
      🙂 ❤

      1. You DO too, my dear friend! With your poetry, comments, encouragement, caffeine obsession and now ARTWORK! Go for it – much more!
        You’re always welcome, Staci! ❤ 🙂

      2. Hahahaha, can’t leave out the caffeine obsession. Thanks again for all your amazing encouragement.
        Hugs and blessings.
        🙂 ❤

  2. I love it, Staci. I had to look at it several times to take it all in. At first it was just the words, and I focused on their meaning. Then I realized that there was a crucifix there, and then on another, more focused view, pages from Galatians. Interest and awareness is risen and the viewer made to dig deeper into the composition, proof positive that the artist is excellent.

    1. Ohhhhh Rob, I love your comment. I also love how you spent time and really focussed in on it, and it’s deeper meaning. Just wonderful, my firend.
Thank you so much for you kind words and incredible encouragement. I’m truly blessed by you.
      🙂 ❤

  3. Beautiful Staci. I enjoyed the poem especially the last stanza. His tenacity, jumps at me.
I admire you for stepping out and learning something new. Your enthusiasm spills out of your words. I like creating with my words.

    1. Thank you so much Timi. That word, ‘tenacity’ has got to be one of my favorite words of all time. It’s really such a weighty and powerful word, don’t you think?
Yes, this mixed-media, artsy thing is very new to me. I’m loving it though and plan on stepping out even more.
It’s not difficult to see that you like creating with your words. And your creations are awesome.
      🙂

  4. Really beautiful Staci! Maybe its the artist in me but I immediately saw the cross leaping off the page from out of swirling colors. And when I read the words, it was a perfect complement. Please don’t stop creating you have a gift!

    1. Thank you so much Mark. I am so encouraged by your kind compliment. It’s words like these that help me to not give up, and keep investing. I’ve been bitten by this ‘creativity’ bug, and am loving it.
      Thanks again, my friend.
      🙂

    1. Ohhhh, thank you so much Benjamin. I’m so glad you like it. It’s the first art piece in this five week course I’m doing online.
How are you doing? Is your cold all better now?
      🙂

      1. You’re welcome. That’s great. I hear of these online courses all the time but never have taken one. I hope it’s enjoyable. Looks like you’re creating great things. I’m finally doing better. It seemed like that lasted forever. Thanks 🙂

      2. Oh, it’s wonderful Benjamin. I’m so glad I came across it.
Thanks for your encouragement. Ooooh, I’m so glad you’re doing better. Colds are such an inconvenience, aren’t they?
        🙂

      3. Yes, especially because life doesn’t stop just because you’re sick. But yes, much better. I’m glad you’ve found another creative outlet. I hope you have an amazing day. We’re close to the new year!

      4. So true. Glad to see you’re better. Oh yes, I’m so new to it, but I’m enjoying it.
Hope you had a great day Benjamin. Happy Thanksgiving to you for tomorrow. As for me, it’s my birthday. YEAH! I’m going to make sure I eat some cake and have some fun.
        Sweet dreams.
        🙂 ❤

      5. Thank you. Happy New Birthday! Cake and fun sounds like an excellent present to yourself. Enjoy you’re special day. You’re a special woman. 🙂 Sweet dreams to you as well.

  5. So happy to read this. I recently picked interest in mixed-media art as well, its just beautiful how a single piece of art becomes a composite figure of multiple mediums used on it. Lets encourage both of us for adding more of our creative work to leave a mark. 🙂 Inspiring!

    1. Oh I know, right. I love mixed media and am so happy to be trying it out for myself now.
“Lets encourage both of us for adding more of our creative work to leave a mark.”
–Yes, yes, yes, I would love that Anne. Have your tried you hand at mixed media yet? If not, give it a try. It’s so awesome to see the final product of something that you have made yourself.
Thank you so much for your encouragement and kind words. So glad to have met you.
      🙂 ❤

      1. I have several paintings but haven’t started yet using mixed media, I will soon. Same here, glad to have met you ♡

      2. Oh sure I’ll love to ♡ I have a page on Facebook too as “AB_Artology” Do visit. I made it recently and also sold a painting a day ago.

    1. Hehee, I was wondering what you would think. It’s my first. I’ve been bitten by the bug Natalie. I can’t help it. It’s gotta be done. 🙂
THank you so much for your kind words and encouragement.
Many blessings and love to you.
      🙂 ❤

    1. Hey there Audrey, thank you so much. I’ve truly been bit by this bug. I’m going to keep investing in this. It’s awesome. I even just got a message from this Christian arts community asking me if I would consider joining their moderating team and leading the poetry/music group. Isn’t that great? I feel so honored.
      🙂 ❤

  6. I love your art! 🙂 For me, creativity is about connection to our authentic selves, to our essence, and carrying that out into the world! ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Ohhhh, thank you so much Trini. And I love, but LOVE your view on creativity. You have hit the nail on the head, my friend. It truly is about connecting to our authentic selves and breathing it out into the world. Love it.
      🙂 ❤

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Uju. I love that word, ‘fuse’. I’m a huge sucker for eye candy. I love the integration of photography, or other art, together with poetry.
      Hope you are well.
      🙂

    1. Awwwww Lorrie. You are too kind. Thank you so much. I’m having a blast experimenting. I just finished another tonight and even incorporated a little haiku right on to it. I will post it tomorrow.
Thank you for all of your encouragement. You bless me.
      🙂 ❤

  7. This is a beautiful piece, and a lovely poem, too. They complement each other very well. I’m glad you have the “crazy urge to just create”–it gives me hope! I used to really enjoy painting, but I haven’t done anything for over three years. For now, the music is the focus, but I’ve been feeling a faint stirring of that urge again, so I know I’ll get back to painting eventually. Good for you for diving in and not putting it off!

    1. Thank you Tina. It’s my first art piece since I decided to start trying my hand at it. I just really love mixed media, and wanted to try it out. I’m sure there are many to come in the future. I’ve never thought of myself as an artist, in fact, I had never been interested in drawing and all that in the past. This is all very recent. I’m going to try out my hand at photography too.
Oh, that would be great if you got back into painting. You must share some of it on your blog if you do.
      🙂

  8. Lovely poem…trees are so much a part of our life that we have taken it for granted. They give us life and we just don’t give a whiff of thought before putting it under the cutter…Yes, the last line. the rhyme of rough, tough and enough…is a befitting finale to the beautiful flow of thoughts.

  9. I’m kind of speechless right now!! Wow!! Look at your marvelous artwork! You are truly gifted, Staci!! What group did you join?

    1. Awwww, thanks Kirsten. I really just follow what was being taught it the class. The group is: http://his-kingdom-come.com/
It’s really awesome. There are groups for all types of art work, even poetry. You should check it out. If you decide to join (there’s no obligation within it), make sure you mention my name 🙂
I could win a free art journal, depending on how many people join. Hehehe. They’re giving incentive to spread the word and grow the community.
      🙂 ❤

      1. If I join, I will definitely mention your name 🙂 I will have to check out the group this weekend. It sounds absolutely wonderful.
