Let me start out by saying I cheated. The challenge I received from A Blind Bird was to write a poem about love in 10 sentences. Each sentence is suppose to contain the word ‘love’ and have only four words in each sentence – Oops. Actually, I hadn’t noticed that I was suppose to do that, and I had finished this by the time I realized it. I’m also suppose to include a favourite quote about love and challenge ten other bloggers.
Quote: ““Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person’s ultimate good as far as it can be obtained.” –C.S. Lewis
I chose this quote because of the way so people now-a-day view love – as a feeling, emotion, passion, etc. So longing one has the ‘feeling’ of love, one is ‘in love’. Once the feeling of love is gone, the relationship is discarded. Whether others are hurt or not.
Love is such a vague word actually. If you would like to read further thoughts of mine on love, and its meanings, you can do so here, here, here, here and here.
Ok, now for my nominations:
The Breakdown of Taboo
Love Notes from the Angels
Tea and Paper
Sacred Touches
Nature Speak Photos
Lifescapes
Maleko’s Art
Oldest Daughter & Redheaded Sister
Arts & Rhymes
The V-Pub
Please make sure you also check out Blind Bird’s post, Love in 10 sentences. She’s an amazing writer.

Love the poem Staci! And completely surprised by the nomination, Thank you! Truth be told I haven’t felt much like writing lately, my mind is muddled, however you are the second person in two days to prompt me to write something. Our God works in mysterious ways so I will attempt to get words on paper and put it out there. Thanks again and have a great day!
Thank you so much Mark. I’m so glad you ‘love’ it.
Surprised? Really? Why so? I know yours will be great.
I know exactly how you feel. The whole ‘muddled mind’ thing. Sometimes we just have to make the decision to create.
You’re more than welcome. You have a great day too.
🙂
Loved it!! 🙂
Thank you so much Neha. I am so glad you like it.

Awwww, thank you so much Rob. I chose you because I know you write songs. I thought maybe you could put your writing skills to the challenge 😉
Can’t wait to read it.

Beautiful poem always come right from the poet’s heart. That’s how I feel when reading your poem. I think it will be awesome as song lyrics too 🙂
What a sweet thing to say Indah. Thank you so much. Who knows, maybe one day I will make it a song. Only time will tell.

Beautiful poems Staci – “Beauty is the imperfection”
Discovering intimate love outside of a blood related loving family can and will be by far the most incredible risky, trusting venture a human being can endure only to learn what love is.
Very true Mihrank. An adventure that is only possible with vulnerability. It involves heart, mind and will.
Thanks so much.
🙂
Beautiful poem, Staci ❤
Awww, thank you so much Heather. I’m glad you liked it.

Hi Staci! That was tough! Here is my response post:

Awesome Rob. Thanks sooo much for participating.
🙂
Great depth here. That opening line is very powerful to me. There is a strength to love when it goes beyond feeling, but I think it is a hard concept to grasp since we associate love with feeling. Yet many feelings come and go, and love is hopefully something that remains steady or rises to higher levels. Thanks for sharing your words here. Exceptional, and worth your minor exceptions. Enjoy your day! 🙂
Heyyyyyy Benjamin. Thank you so much. Concerning love and feelings – I believe that love also includes feelings. I just don’t agree with being lead by feelings. I believe that now-a-day people don’t take the ‘commitment’ part of love too seriously. Not all people, but a large number. I think that’s why we see so many divorces and broken families. People divorcing because they don’t ‘feel’ love anymore. People committing adultery because they were led by feelings. There’s a lot more to it and to my thoughts on the matter, but this is just a tiny part of it all.
Did you notice that I nominated you for this as well? I hope you take on the challenge, but no pressure. I totally understand if you can’t ok.
Have a wonderful day, my friend.
🙂
Yes, I agree. “Commitment” is a huge part of what makes love work. Feelings can be good but can also lead us to the wrong places at times, and perhaps why we need to think and believe as well as feel. I did see the nomination. Thank you. I’m very honored. 🙂 I’m not the best with challenges like these but I will try.
I hear you there. I’m a strong feeler, and when I can’t think straight because of feelings, I go to my hubby (he’s a strong thinker) to try and get some logic on the matter.
You’re welcome Benjamin. No problem. If the inspiration strikes – great. If not, no problem.
🙂
Staci, this is lovely! I feel what you have captured here is the essence of an ideal love, one which we would all wish to have. The love you describe surpasses the superficial ideas of love and is a whole body and mind practice of love. A really wonderful poem!
Warm wishes,
Pepperane
Awwwww, thank you so much Pepperane.
Oh yes, it is the ideal love, isn’t it. That along with the physical side makes it perfect, I think.
Take care.
🙂
Love is quite tough, isn’t it, Staci. I think a ton and probably feel even more. To my own detriment usually, but I know no other way. Finding a companion who shares the same belief system is key. Lovely poem, my friend. Thanks for nominating me. I will give it my best shot. Currently, I’m coming out of a mind block, so it’ll be a few days. ♡
Oh yes, ‘think a ton and feel even more’. I hear you loud and clear on that. I’m a strong feeler, and then when they’re too strong, I think a ton too. However, the thinking process is cloudy and anxious, unfortunately. Maybe it’s part of the whole CADHD thing 😉
I totally agree with you @same belief system. For me it’s essential.
Thank you so much Audrey. Can’t wait to read yours. And take your time. I didn’t get this out until a week or so after I was nominated. I think I probably go through more mind block than you.
🙂
I LOVE the rhythm of loop poems! I like what you said about love in this poem. We won’t go wrong in love if we follow the example set for us by God. Beautiful picture too.
Heyyyy Kirsten, how was your vacation?
I love loop poems too.
I wanted to nominate you for this, but was unsure if you wanted your writing blog highlighted or not. I think your love poem would be awesome.
💕
Thank you for not nominating me. I’m not sure if I will be letting people know about my writing blog or not. I’ve done a bunch of mixed media art for that blog too which will post on Mondays. I might posted them on my photography one too. I don’t know. My vacation has been good. Lots of rest and photography! I should be back on WP by Monday. Blessings
You’re welcome Kirsten. Yea, I kind of figured that you may not be sharing about your new blog with everyone. Why don’t you make it private? Then only those that you have invited can see it.
Oh wow, can’t wait to see the mixed-media pieces. Have a great last day on vacation.
🙂 ❤
Thanks Staci. Now that I’m back on my main blog I will be posting some of my mixed media pieces on there too. I’m going to keep my writing blog separate, but I’m okay if people see it. I just won’t be following people or interacting through that account. That tends to keep it small which is how I want it to stay 🙂
Can’t wait to see the mixed-media stuff.
Yea, I can imagine that operating more than one blog could cause one to get overwhelmed. Especially with work and other ‘real’ life responsibilities.
Well, I’m glad you let me know about it though. I like reading your stuff.
🙂
Ooooh wonderful! The final four lines are my favourite! I knew you’d nail it. ❤
Aww, and I am kind of glad that you missed on that part of the rule! Hehehe the starting of your post is just 'hoo-ha' and then you're like – I missed out on it. It was fun! 😀
Hehehe. Yea, I didn’t notice the rules until after. Eek. Oh well, I think it’s better this way anyhow. Thank you so much sweetie.
Have a great weekend.
🙂 ❤
Hello Staci! This is a difficult task. I think you did a great job. It’s a beautiful love poem. 😀
Awwww, thank you so much Vashti. I’m so glad you liked it.
