All in a moment

bokeh gerbera

And in this moment

right here and now

my eyes are blessed.

For in a few days

when you wither away

and your beauty fades

only the memory of

how you graced my life

All in that moment.

I have been playing around with photography a bit lately, and I’m loving it. I also love Gerbera flowers. They’re so cheery and pretty. This one makes me think of innocence and sweetness.

Do you have a favourite flower?

  1. I was never very good with photography. I love the way that you’ve made the flower very clear and made the background blurry. Nice effect! I love Gerber daisies, too. They have such intense coloration.

    1. Neither was I Rob. What changed is that I started to become passionate about it and tried my hand. Bit by bit I would ask my husband the whys and whats and hows as I was going along – and a funny thing happened – I started to like some of my shots. I have a lot to learn, but I’m really a hands on learner. I have some great opportunities now in our new location, so I’m going to really try my hand at it more and more.
Thanks so much. Aren’t Gerberas the best. My wedding bouquet was made up of orange gerberas.

  2. Great photo! I’ve been dabbling in photography, and it’s not produced sun a happy picture. Our magnolias are about to bloom. It’s such a fleeting flower, but the lemony fragrance is one of my favorites. My favorite long lasting flower is the orchid, so many varieties and colors. 😊

    1. Oh, thank you so much Wendy. I’m glad you like it.
How awesome. You have magnolias. Are they pink or white? I really think the pink ones are pretty (not that the white ones aren’t, but the pink have a special je ne sais quoi).
I like orchids too. In Brazil (at least in the city I used to live in) orchids are a very popular flower to give on Mothers Day. Every year in November, the city I used to live in had an orchid fair.

      1. Ohhhh, thank you so much Neha. What a beautiful think to write. You have truly encouraged me today, my friend.
        Bless you. 🙂 ❤

    1. Ohhhh, thank you so much Audrey. I’m so glad you like the photo and the poem. As you know, I usually use poetry forms. I have a more difficult time just letting it flow (like you do so wonderfully). I’m a rules and structure girl. You would never know it though. I’m so hyper and high energy that people would normally not think of me that way (or maybe that’s just my perception). Anyhow, thanks again, my friend.
      🙂 ❤

  3. How very beautiful!! 🙂 ❤ My favorite flower has always been the wild daisy, you know the one with yellow face and white petals. But I also adore Cherry Blossoms and lilacs. So they are all my favorites! 🙂

    1. Ohhhhhh Trini. My heart it full right now. I somehow had a feeling that you liked daisies/gerberas. In fact, I was going to dedicate this post to you, because this type of flower makes me think of you. I didn’t dedicate it though because I was unsure of how you would feel about it (like maybe you wouldn’t want that or something like that).
I also loooooooovvvvveeee Cherry Blossoms. They are so sweet, and the pink is so pretty. Lilacs I like for their smell. So fragrant, they fill the air.
Thank you so much Trini. I’m so pleased you like this.
      🙂 ❤

    1. Oh Natalie, I had absolutely no doubt that they would all be your favourite 🙂
You are the flower queen. And your photos are so beautiful.
I have to tell you something. The original colour of this gerber a is a bright yellow. I was playing around with some editing and really liked this color. Sooooo, I decided to keep it like that. At any rate, I took another photo of the gerbera for a whole other story, which I’ll post sometime next week. This one will be in the original color.
      Love and hugs. 🙂 ❤

  4. Beautiful!!! And oh the fun that awaits in the “picture taking game”…be blessed. ~Matthew

    1. Thank you so much Matthew. I’m so glad you like it.
Oh yes, much fun. I’m in a new location now and it’s providing me with so many amazing opportunities. Tons of fun. I think I’m really going to like this “picture taking game”…
      Bless you.

    1. Thank you so much Heather. I’m happy you like it.
I’m sure you’ve been a busy bee eh? Have you entered your four day rest yet?
      🙂 ❤

      1. Hi Staci,

My four day rest started yesterday. Unfortunately, a visit to the chiropractor gave me a migraine which meant I had a fairly unpleasant afternoon/evening 😦

I am feeling a bit better today though. Hope you and your family are all well ❤

      2. Oh noooooo. That’s too bad. I’ve never been to a chiropractor. I had horrible migraines during both of my pregnancies. No fun at all.
We are super busy getting our place ready to move into. I spent the weekend painting and sanding. My back and arms are soooooo sore. Hopefully we’ll be all moved in by the end of next weekend.

      3. I hope everything is going well on the home decorating front! ❤

The migraine lasted until Monday evening and so I was pretty out of it for most of the weekend. Thankfully, from Tuesday onwards I have felt a lot better.

      4. Ohhhh, so sorry to hear that Heather. I hope it didn’t ruin your entire ‘rest’ time.
We just moved this weekend actually. Before that we were renovating and painting and all. We were very busy. No we need to just everything in place and decorated.

      5. The migraine knocked me out for the whole four days of my rest period and so I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked to during that break.

I am feeling much better now though (if pretty exhausted). I hope you and your family are well! ❤

      6. I’m so sorry to hear that Heather. It must have been horrible. I had a migraine yesterday and it was awful. Nothing helped it. Mine was provoked by too much activity and not enough rest.
We’re all well thanks. Hope you are too.
        🙂 ❤

      7. I’m much better now, thanks Staci. I have had a whirlwind couple of weeks though and literally haven’t stopped. I promise I’ll swing by your blog soon and show some love! ❤

      8. Ohhhhh, that’s great Heather. I hear you, loud and clear. I have also had a whirlwind couple of weeks. With my move, and not being settled yet, coupled with other responsibilities. Ugh. I’ll have to pop by your little corner of the blogosphere too Heather.
        🙂 ❤

  5. Beautiful flower and poem 🙂 I love the beauty in the moment that flowers offer us! We just need to take that moment to enjoy their beauty. I think tulips are my favorite. Probably becaus they are the only ones that don’t get my allergies acting up!! 😀

    1. Oh no! Allergies? That is too bad. So does that mean you don’t get to smell them? If you do, your allergies act up?
Interesting that tulips don’t do that. Why do you think that is? Maybe they don’t let off as strong a smell as others?
      Thank you so much Kirsten.
      🙂 ❤

      1. I try to never smell flowers in close in areas. When I go to the gardens, I can only stay for a little while 😞 I’m so glad that Tulips don’t bother me. I’m not sure why, but maybe they have less pollen?!? If you need specific prayers over the wknd please let me know 🙏🙏🙏

      2. You’re AWESOME! thanks so much Kirsten. I could really use prayers for the anxiety levels. I think you already know that I’m somewhat of an anxious person. I get overwhelmed way to easily and don’t know how to collect my thoughts in times like these. Thanks a ton.
Also, let me know if you need any prayer for anything ok.
        :-0 ❤

    1. Who doesn’t like Spring? Hehehe. Every year in Ottawa (I used to live there), they have a tulip festival in May. You would like that.

  6. I like the effect in the background on your flower photo – so nice – and there is whisper light feeling to the daisy that matches your words well – and how someone’s essence is what is left behind. 🙂

and my favorite flower is the rose of sharon, more of a flowering shrub that is durable and a classic beauty. BUt I also like a variety of flowers – (zinnia for height, lats and petunia for hanging) and then perennial’s for ground cover – however, usually each year I but at least one pot of Gerbera annuals and put them near the mailbox of walkway – and they have a special feel.

    1. Oh wow. That’s great. I don’t know very much about flowers and gardening, however I do appreciate pretty flowers. Heck, what can I say? I’m female. 🙂 Sooooo, you’re a rose girl eh. It’s such an elegant flower.
Thank you for your kind words about the photo. I just started taking up photography. It’s so fun, isn’t it?

      1. Oh no – actually I am not a rose girl very much – in both ways – I do not grow them and they are not my flower of choice to get – I love them – but not my flower at all — for a few reasons – ha! and here are a few mixed arrangements for you

      2. Ugh! I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to reply. We’re trying to finish up our house and move and it’s taking up a lot of our time. My hubby leaves here at about 7:30 and finishes at night. Sometimes he doesn’t even stop for dinner.
Anyhow, thanks for the flower arrangements. They’re sweet.
        Hugs. 🙂 ❤

      3. well I know how busy we all get – so never worry about replying or even popping over to see me – even though it is nice when we do – but I really just like dropping by over here too – and I bet you are so excited about settling in after you move – ahhhh….

      4. “I bet you are so excited about settling in after you move”
–I can’t wait. I’m exhausted. Not too mention, full of aches and tension in my back, neck and shoulders. I can’t wait to get some routine back into my life.
        Ahhhhhhh. 🙂

  7. Pretty flower, and lovely poem. My favourite flowers are red roses, they are very special to me, and I love tulips too, tulips mean spring to me! Have a lovely week!

    1. Awwww, thanks so much May. I’m so glad you like the poem and the photo. I’m having fun playing around with the camera. 🙂
So sorry it’s taken me so long to respond. I’ve had a lot on my plate lately with the move, and then I had to travel to teach at a retreat and all.
I hope you’re doing well. I’ll be over at your blog a little later. I’m missing my routine and wordpress. Ugh.
      🙂 ❤

      1. You’re most welcome Staci 😊❤️
I hope you’re settling after the move and your trip went well 😊😊
Big hugs and have a lovely day ❤️❤️

      2. Trying to. Thanks so much May. I should be up and about blogging regularly again come the end of the week.
Hugs and have a great day.
        🙂 ❤

  8. Lovely words and lovely flower. We call them Daisy Gerbers here… unless your flower is a bit different. I love them – so colorful and cheerful.

    1. Daisy Gerbers? Hmmm, interesting. I always called them Gerberas. Aren’t they the best. I love them. In fact, my wedding bouquet was made up of bright orange ones.
Thanks Kate. Hope you’re well and getting rested up. I know things had been busy for you. Things are stinking busy for me. Can’t wait to breathe again.

      1. I like to put those flowers in my garden. They come in so many beautiful shades!

Hope things soon start to calm down for your, Staci. I know you’ve had an overflowing cup lately. ❤

  9. Aw, lovely flower, Stace. So glad you’re having fun exploring. I can tell you’re keeping yourself sane with everything else on your plate. =) The “my eyes are blessed” reads very nicely.

  10. Life is indeed lived in its moments. Photography captures the moments and many times the captured picture says it all, there is a moving story in the still picture. Flowers are eternally beautiful and always ignites our senses and makes us feel good and the smell and beauty keeps us engaged and we derive immense pleasure and roses are just so fascinating to watch, the colour and the smell makes it deeply lost when the breeze passes by.
Love the flower picture and the words just perfect to match the beauty…

    1. Awwww, thanks so much Nihar. I’m so glad you liked this. Photography truly does allow us to capture those moments, doesn’t it? God has blessed us with our five senses, so it would be a shame to not appreciate them.
      Have a great week Nihar.

      1. Photography is such a fascinating activity to engage with, once we start appreciate the things around us and see the real value of life and living, we then would love to capture those moments which becomes history the very next moment and we all want to capture those moments some are beautiful and some are challenging times.
Writing and photography has a symbiotic relationship and we should nurture that relationship for the good of writing.
        You too…

      2. I am really enjoying playing around and learning a bit more about photography. I’ve been sooooo busy with our move and trying to get my house organized that I haven’t had much chance lately, but hopefully by next week that will change.
        Thanks Nihar.

      3. With all those activities for new house, still you are able to find time and reply back is a great thing, it is not at all easy.
The art of photography adds to the art of writing….once you are free we can have a more detailed discussion on the topic.
        take care.

      4. Hey Nihar. Thanks a lot. Yes, the art of photography does add to the art of writing. Like a visual put together with the written.
        Hope you’re well.

      5. I am fine. How is your shifting of home taking place. Hope everything is progressing as per plan.
Pls do take some photographs of the transition events which can be good memory to reflect later.
        take care.

      6. Thank you so much Nihar. I’m a bit drained, but I guess life is all about the ups and downs, right? I should be up and active again on WordPress by the end of the week.

      7. I can understand Staci, not to worry and this hectic and additional work brings new beginning and better changes in our life…good times are ahead.
Looking forward to your active engagement in this space.
        take care.

    1. Oh yes, wild flowers have a certain rawness to them, don’t they. I had wild flowers at my wedding, however the wild flowers here in Brazil are different then what you’d see in North America (that’s if you’re from there. I’m from Canada, but live in Brazil 🙂 ).
Thank you so much for sharing.

      1. excellent choice for a wedding bouquet! well wild flowers from Brazil must be awesome. I am from greece.,lovely wild flowers here also.have a good day
