Color me Purple

Color me purple-blog2
Color me Purple – Part 8 of a 9 part poem on mixed media

Finally, after 2 1/2 months of not posting a ‘Color me’ girl, the purple one is done.

Purple is the color of royalty. Maybe it’s because purple robes were worn by royalty in the past and the rare occurrence of purple in nature made it one of the most expensive color dyes to create (source – Bourn Creative).

People of royalty are very wealthy. I consider myself royalty, but not in the earthly sense. I mean, let’s face it, you can’t just become royal. You’re born into it. I do, however, consider myself very wealthy, very powerful, and very free. Free to do what I like. Free to be who I want. Free to be me. Just me. And nobody can take that away.

My treasures are not things like gold and jewels. I could care less about them. My treasures are riches that can’t be bought. Divine and simple. Obtained without stress or anxiety. Deeply fulfilling and eternal.

How about you? What do you consider to be treasure? Are you deeply satisfied? Do you consider yourself wealthy and powerful? And how about free?

  1. She is so cute and lovely! I still think all your color girls should be turned into dolls. Seriously!!! It is actually sad what this world considers wealth and riches and even more sad that people are running after it like they have a thousand years to live.
The only royalty I recognize is Our God, and the rest of us are just humans with all our worldly brokenness. In Him and through Him we are rich, powerful and free. I am also rich because I have love of my family, friends and relatives and at the end of this journey this is all I am taking with me. ❤

    1. Thank you so much Sibella. Haha @color girls should be turned into dolls. I guess they are a bit doll-ish eh. 🙂
You know, I used to be so into acquiring material things. Then I realized that they really don’t fulfill. It’s so freeing to put our treasures in the simple things, isn’t it?
“The only royalty I recognize is Our God”
–Hey wait, you are royalty too, my friend. I hear what you’re saying about the human and brokeness thing, and I agree. Butttttt… check out 1 Peter 2:9 and here’s an ‘Our Daily Bread’ devotional as well. We’re princesses, my friend. Hahahaha.
      Have a lovely week Sibella.
      🙂 ❤

  2. Beautiful. Would love to know what mediums you used.

My treasures are named O’Neill, Jack, Lola, Avril and Zane. Children and grandchildren are true treasures. Spouses are more “iffy”! LOL and my dog is more of a punishment than a blessing!!!!

    1. Hey there Queen Robyn. Look at that! You already know that you’re royalty. Hahaha.
Thank you so much for your kind words.
I used like a poster board as my surface. they I collaged crumpled tissue paper and did a water paint wash. On a separate sheet of 140gr paper, I drew and painted the girl with water color pencil crayons and water color paint. Then I cut it out and glued on to the surface.

My treasures are Cauê and Hannah. My hubby is also a treasure, but of course sometimes doesn’t seem so. Hahaha.
      Have a wonderful week Robyn.
      🙂 ❤

    1. Hahahaha. Awwww, thank you so much Trini. I love free too. Maybe I’ll start calling you, “Princess Trini”…What do you think? Haha.
You have a wonderful week, my friend.
      🙂 ❤

  3. Beautiful picture and poem. I have learned the hard way that, as you so beautifully illustrated, true treasure and freedom only come from following God. But I forgot that He made me his princess. Thanks for the awesome reminder.

  4. A gorgeous reminder of who we are in God. I was reading from Narnia to my kids today, and this post matches it perfectly.
    Blessings to you!!
    ~ Dajena ❤

    1. Awwww, thank you so much Dejena. Narnia is a great thing to be reading to your kids. I hope to get my son reading those when he’s a bit older.
Have a great week, my friend.
      🙂 ❤

      1. You are welcome dear Staci. You too, enjoy your week!
        ~ Dajena

  5. Staci, this is a beautiful post and the artwork is lovely. You always offer up delightfully profound ideas and thoughts, along with questions that get right to the core of who we are. This post for me is particularly heartfelt in the sense you have touched on something that takes on an intangible form. Agreed, true wealth is priceless and does not exist in material items or social status. I truly believe these treasures are found in the minds and hearts of those that realize it’s a gift to be cherished. A beautiful presentation and very thought provoking. Please enjoy the rest of your Sunday and the week ahead. I hope your foot is doing well and you’re moving around on it okay. Always wishing you the very best.
    ~ Mia 🙂 ❤

    1. Mia, thank you so much. And what a great thing to say @You always offer up delightfully profound ideas and thoughts, along with questions that get right to the core of who we are. I think that so many people try to avoid who they really are. Like not wanting to deal with the deeper things. I also think that those that place their values in the money, possessions and status are missing out. Those things are so surface and passing.
My foot seems to be getting better daily. It’s still difficult to walk, but I’m sure that it’s just a matter of time.
Thanks again Mia, and please have a wonderful week.
      :-)<3

      1. Staci, you’re most welcome. It’s true, which makes reading your posts such a pleasure for me. Oh, I completely agree, avoidance is a big issue, replaced with the superficial, definitely sad. Good news, I’m so happy to read that your foot is getting better. Thank you for the kind wishes, please enjoy your week too! Take good care. 🙂 ❤

  7. I really love this art. For me, treasures are not things that can be bought, but eternal. Even in regards to this earth, treasures are genuine relationships with people. For me, I am working to be at a place where I can say or feel completely free, especially to be myself. However, I like the statement you made, “My treasures are riches that can’t be bought. Divine and simple. Obtained without stress or anxiety. Deeply fulfilling and eternal.” I will hope on to that–thanks for sharing Staci 🙂

    1. Crystal, thank you so much for your kind words. I’m so glad you ‘love’ this piece.
It looks like we both consider the eternal treasures to be the true treasures eh. 😉
You have a wonderful week Crystal.
      🙂 ❤

  8. Yes Staci, the richness is in our thoughts and feelings not in the wealth and expensive pieces. It is the creative thoughts and the creative outputs that makes our life more meaningful and richly beautiful. The relationship we develop and the ideas that we share and the conversation we build through our imagination and engagement. Art is such a wonderful example of how we make our life rich and rich with color and texture that we depict on the canvas. The series of doll that you have etched out of your imagination is a perfect example of how one can indulge in richness of ideas and thoughts, the purple color is indeed a sign of royalty and you have profusely demonstrated its use in the wonderful doll of yours…there is grace and there is charm. It is all around the painting and it speaks volumes of creative thought that has gone behind.

Thanks as always fro sharing such a delightful post and making me reflect on our treasures that nothing to do with money and wealth.
    Have a great week ahead.
    😀

    1. Nihar, thank you so much for your generous words and comment. I’m so glad you enjoyed this piece.
I totally agree that art is one of the ways that we make life rich.
Please have a wonderful and productive week.:-)

      1. I agree Staci, life becomes more beautiful when we start living and working with the arts and crafts of life.
        You too and take care.
        😀

  10. Loved this ! You’re most certainly royalty, I’d prefer to call you the Queen of Creativity. Your riches include talent, imagination, writing, painting and those are things can’t be bought ! Cheers, Staci 🙂

  11. Beautiful picture (did you make it?). I think anyone can be a royalty as long as they have got what it takes to be one. 🙂 I believe you are one, I read a few posts of yours, your writing is beautiful, your pictures convey stories in their own and your site is a like a big book of stories.. Beautiful.

    1. Awwww, thank you so much Hemangini. I’m so pleased that you have been liking my posts. And yes, I did make it. I have a 9-part project going on where I am creating ‘Color me…’ girls. I have written a poem actually on the topic, and now I am creating a girl for each color. I’ve already done and posted for pink, yellow, green, blue, black and this purple one. I still have orange, red and white to go.
