...when he holds the fort and serves me when I'm sick.
Inspired by a post that a fellow blogger, Pete, wrote, I have decided to do a series on ‘Love is…’ I don’t know how often I will post a ‘Love is…’ post, but today marks the first one.
Love me more than what you feel
Feelings and passion aren’t love for real
Real love goes far deeper still
Still my mind with love of will
Will you love me with your deeds
Deeds unselfish, heart that bleeds
Bleeds and sweats a love that’s true
Truly chooses each day to do
Do the best, seek from above
Above to learn to really love.
Last weekend I was sick, and couldn’t do much around the house. My husband was so good at taking care of the kids, tidying up and serving me.
The above loop poem was actually the response to a challenge I accepted some time ago, which was to write a poem about love in 10 sentences. It is a little (ok quite) cheesy, but thought it appropriate for the message for ‘Love is…’ today.
What would be your, ‘Love is…’ message for this week?

Woo hoo! You’re in my reader again! Your 10 line poem is wonderful, not cheesy! My ‘love is’ message? To love without limits, for the moment may come when you regret holding back.
Hahaha! Yea, at least I’m in your Reader. Unfortunately I’m still not getting your responses in my notifications. Hmmmmm…
Awwww, thank you so much Rob. I’m glad you liked this one Rob.
Interesting, your take on love for the week. Sometimes we hold back because of fear. Don’t ya think?
Have a great week Rob.
🙂
Yes, exactly! Sometimes we don’t say enough, or do enough. I think, that at least in my case, it’s all about fear. For me anyway. But I’ve learned that rejection is a lot less painful over time than a missed opportunity.
Hey Rob, please forgive me for taking so long to reply. Some things have changed in my life that has made it so difficult for me to blog. I’m looking forward to getting some time to create soon. Hopefully tomorrow.
How are you doing?
🙂 ❤
I hope that these are good things, Staci. ❤ I'm doing well. Just finished most of the tracks on a new song, and I'm waiting for a fiddle player to do a solo. What have you been up to?
Oh wow! A fiddle player? That’s great. The fiddle is so cool, and supposedly very difficult to play.
Oh yes, all things good. It’s just a matter of trying to find how to adjust my time and all. Transition is generally funky at first. But then things seem to fall into place. 🙂
I’ve been involved in a new project here at our base. It’s kind of exciting because it’s something that I’m quite passionate about. Thinking about establishing a school within this project as well. We’ll see.
Hope you are well. I’ll be popping by soon to see what you’ve been writing about.
Have a great night. 😉
Lovely to ready such a lovely post. ❤ That poem was so nice. 🙂
And Bravo to your hubby for doing all that.Take care of yourself!
(right now) Love is …sweet dreams.Good night! 😀
I feel privileged that my poem inspired Staci’s post 😀 Love is setting aside your nightmares to realise someone else’s dreams…
That’s such a nice thing to say. 🙂
Thank you so Inky. I’m so glad you liked it.
Yes, my hubby is a great guy.
Ohhhh, I hope you had a nice sleep.
Have a great week Inky.
🙂 ❤
❤ 😀 Enjoy your day!
Love is holding on when you want to let go. Love is a decision.
‘Love is letting go’. It is amazing the journey this subject will take you on when you start considering its possibilities.
Man, that’s so true.
🙂
Most definitely. I completely agree. A decision and a verb, right. 😉
Have a great week Wendy. Don’t get stung by any of those bees now.
🙂 ❤
yes ma’am!
🙂
Love is … grace for my shortcomings; mercy when I least deserve it.
I hope you’re feeling much better. Thank God for a husband and family who love you. 🙂
Love is knowing who you are and striving to be the person you should be…
That’s great Timi. Completely agree.
I am much better now, thanks.
My husband is a great guy. I don’t give him enough credit.
Have a great week.
🙂
Wow, I must admit I quite like being an inspiration for your art and blog piece. My wife is also unwell this week and I am taking good care of her. Supporting each other is one of the cornerstones of a great relationship. I have a second poem, with a love is theme (Love is like rope) which was inspired by thoughts of the committments we make to each other that can be both loving and loveless I will post over the weekend, hopefully it will give you food for thought for a follow up post 😀. Get well soon. Pete x
Yeah Pete!!! Good for you taking care of your wife. I’m sure she super appreciated it.
Looking forward to reading your new poem. I’m sure it’ll be a good one, as always.
Thanks again Pete, and please have a wonderful week.
🙂
Love is my friend Mike telling me (and meaning it) that he’d give up his life for his wife.
Now that is definitely some serious sacrificial love, eh Rob.
🙂
Love truly is a myriad of things, things that we seldom think about. Doing anything in a loving manner towards anyone is an act of love. Nice post Staci! 🙂 ❤
Thank you so much Natalie. And that is soooooo true @love is a myriad of things. Have you ever read C.S. Lewis’ book, “The Four Loves”?
Hope you are having a nice Monday Natalie.
Love and hugs.
🙂 ❤
This is so beautiful. And you are blesased to have found that kind of love. ❤❤❤
And for me, love is beyond words and actions. You feel it from within. 😊
Thank you so much Rosema. I’m so glad you liked this.
I love to see how the ancient Greek had so many different words to express our one English word, ‘love’. We say we love our friend, parents, husband/wife, and then we also say we love ice cream. Hmmmm… The Greek take it much further and deeper to express the different forms of love that exist.
Have a wonderful week, my friend.
🙂 ❤
yea… it’s amazing. 🙂 🙂 🙂 you have a wonderful week too. 😀
I loved your poem…and I’m sorry you were so sick!!! I hope you are feeling much better now ❤
My 'Love is' IS… LOVE ALWAYS IS!!!!! 😉 😉
Sending beautiful love and healing to you my friend!!!
Awwwww, thanks so much Lorrie. I’ve been feeling better, although often tired.
Love to you too Lorrie, and please have a lovely week.
🙂 ❤
Hi Staci, I think the loop poem was great and I think the topic of love flowed nicely in that form. My love is–love sincerely 🙂
Hi Crystal. Great to hear from you. Thank you for the comment and sharing your ‘love’. Great way too, “sincerely”.
Have a wonderful week.
🙂 ❤
Aww, I love this! I’m glad you’re feeling better, Staci. A well oiled partnership truly comes in handy when we fall ill.
Love is noticing when we’re needed. Hugs to you and your family! 🙂
Awwww, thank you so much Audrey. I’m so glad you enjoyed this post.
I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to reply. I have been crazy busy lately with some changes that are taking place in my life. I’m dying to get some creating done. I have a number ideas that I need to find time to give life to. Hahaha.
Hope you are doing very well. I’m sure the Spring has sprung there eh.
🙂 ❤
Busy is good and from it the fruits will be fantastic. I understand about the creative part. I’m trying to be patient with my need for some, as well. Praying for you, my friend. Yes, Spring is closer. Still a bit chilly most of the day, but the grass is getting greener. 🙂
There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved.
That’s a great way to think Mihrank. Einstein himself said, “Only a life worth living, is a life lived for others”. I think that’s a great view of love.
Have a great day.
🙂
For me love is togetherness.
There can be ups and downs in life but what matters is you are together,
That’s lovely Moushmi. I believe we were made for relationship and so being together is definitely huge when it comes to love.
Have a lovely day.
🙂
Hope you have a great day too 🙂
🙂

Cool!
Loved it.
Thank you so much Vidisha. So glad you enjoyed this.
🙂
But what when this love fades .. 🙂
I don’t believe that true lasting love fades. Feelings may fade, and so may passion, but love between a husband and a wife, for example, needs to grow and mature and become something stronger than fleeting feelings. That’s when love is a verb. Something you do. An action word. A choice.
I once wrote a post on the ancient Greek words for ‘love’. So very rich to understand the depths and variety that is involved in our one solitary English word. If interested, you can read it here: https://stacilys.wordpress.com/2014/02/14/love/
This poetry is written so nicely:)
Thank you so much Mehak. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
Please have a wonderful day.
