Versatile Blogger Award

 

Ok, I have to admit, I’m a little behind on responding to award nominations that I’ve had the honor to receive.  Please forgive me Kate and Rob.  Sometimes I feel a little like a chicken with its head cut off with all of the business of life.  Anyhow, that being said, I’m finally attending to this.

2. Tell you seven things about myself.

-I used be a tom boy.  Didn’t like wearing skirts or dresses.  Wore big clunky Doc Martins or some other kick-butt type of boot.  Now I love being a ‘girl’.  Love dresses, skirts, pretty things.  Maybe living in Brazil has a bit to do with that.  Hot here and women (in general) take care of their appearance.

-My hubby’s about to release his second feature-length film.

-I love the movies “My Life in Ruins” and “The Peaceful Warrior”.

-The older I get, the more content and happy I am.

-My mom used to bathe me and my brothers together.  One day she caught me in the bathtub in tears because my penis had fallen down the drain (or it fell off, or something like that).

-When my 4-year-old daughter is upset with me, she threatens me by telling me that I won’t be her mommy anymore or that she won’t do a picnic with me.

-One day my husband and I have a dream to buy a vehicle in Canada and drive south until we end up back in Brazil, documenting and filming it all.  However, we would stop at all sorts of different places along the way, until the tip of South America.

Why the absence Staci? and The Versatile Blogger Award

Nope, none of these things.  I haven’t been anxious, nor hollow, frustrated or trapped.

I have been soooooo absent lately, and let me tell you why.  As many already know, I live in Brazil.  That means it’s summer time.  With summer comes school vacation for the kids. Explained? Yup! My kids are out of school until January 27th, which means we are spending a lot of time together.

Now, the seven things about myself that other bloggers may not know:

• I play the guitar
• I absolutely, I mean, absolutely love peanut butter
• I always said that if I had a little girl I would never do the whole pinky girly thing.  Now that I have a little girl, I’ve thrown that whole idea out the window.  She is sooooo girly and pinky and princessy and I love it.
• Growing up, I ate like crap and didn’t exercise.  Now, I loooovvvveee living a healthy lifestyle in every way.
• I am a very strong feeler and my hubby is a very strong thinker.  We are total opposites.  But I see the hand of God in this (bringing us together).  Where he is strong, I am weak and vice versa. When I was considering the possibility of having a relationship with him and, in the future, marrying him, I knew that I had to make my decision completely apart from feelings (because they come and go and you can’t build a relationship on that). So I made my decision based on his attributes, character, life vision and gifts.
• I used to be an atheist.  That is until one day someone confronted me about it and I had to stop and think to myself, “Wait a minute, is that really what I believe?” That person said to me, “Can you really look around at all you see and say that you believe in evolution (and basically, the non-existence of God)?”  That’s what really got me searching for Truth.
• The places that I would most like to visit in the world (and that I haven’t been to yet) are: Egypt, Columbia, Morroco, Greece, Italy and Thailand.

Dragon Loyalty Award

I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas full of family, fun, friends and good food.  My family and I had a nice time with a ton of family over at my in-laws.  Here in Brazil, Christmas is celebrated on the 24th.  We didn’t get home until after 2:00 am, however Caue (my oldest) was up at 8:00 am ready to open presents (of course).

Being that I am a relatively new blogger and it’s kind of been a learn-as-I-go experience, I haven’t really established much a following yet with people commenting regularly.  Because of that, I will end up only nominating one blogger who always responds to my comments and that I’ve found to be a really delightful person and awesome writer – the sweet Diana from http://holisticwayfarer.com/

Now for the things that other bloggers may not know about me:

• I have a 6 year old son with Asperger’s syndrome and is totally in love with dinosaurs right now.
• I rode an elephant when I was living in India.
• I have eaten dog (in China) and camel (in Afghanistan).
• I had the awesome opportunity to help paint some walls at a prison for Afghan women and met a beautiful young girl that was there because she had run away from her to-be wedding (If I remember correctly – I believe that’s why she was there) (sad).  Ended up going to her home and visiting with her after her father got her out of the prison.
• I used to do quite a bit of musical theatre, including the role of ‘Anne’ in the musical production of “Anne of Green Gables” when I was a teenager.
• When I was in China I visited a small country town of a minority people group (I believe they were from the ‘Yao’ people group) and I was the first caucasian foriegner they had ever seen/met.  My friends (Korean girl and American-Chinease guy) and I ate dinner with a family there.
• I have a thyroid condition called, “hypothyroidism”
